NDIS & Funding for Music Therapy

I provide NDIS music therapy in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs as a mobile Registered Music Therapist, working with self-managed and plan-managed participants.

Music therapy is a recognised allied health profession.

Many NDIS participants use Capacity Building funding (Improved Daily Living) to access music therapy with a Registered Music Therapist (RMT).

I provide NDIS-funded music therapy for children, adolescents, adults and older adults in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs.

Can I use my NDIS funding for music therapy?

Yes. In practice, many participants use NDIS funding for music therapy when they have goals related to:

  • communication and language development

  • emotional awareness & regulation

  • social skills

  • cognitive skills and learning

  • fine and gross motor skills

  • maintaining skills and quality of life

Music therapy sits alongside other allied health supports such as OT, speech and psychology.

Which NDIS budgets can music therapy come from?

Most commonly, music therapy is funded through:

  • Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living

Depending on your plan and goals, it may also link to social and community participation, daily living skills, education or emotional wellbeing.

If you share your plan wording with me, I can help identify where music therapy fits and suggest language you can use with your planner, LAC, support coordinator or plan manager.

Who I support with NDIS-funded music therapy

I work with NDIS participants of all ages, including people living with:

  • developmental delay or disability

  • autism and other neurodevelopmental conditions

  • intellectual disability

  • acquired brain injury and neurological conditions

  • dementia and other neurodegenerative conditions

  • mental health conditions

You don’t need to be “musical” or play an instrument. Sessions are tailored to your abilities, preferences and sensory needs.
