Meet Barak – Registered Music Therapist in Sydney

Hi, I’m Barak Dar-El, a Registered Music Therapist (RMT) and the founder of Resonance Music Therapy. I’m based in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs and provide mobile music therapy in homes, schools, community settings and aged care homes.

I hold a Bachelor of Music Performance from the Australian Institute of Music and a Master of Music Therapy from the University of Melbourne. I have additional training in Neurologic Music Therapy (NMT) and I am registered with the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA).

Music therapy is a recognised allied health profession in Australia. As a Registered Music Therapist (RMT), I work within the professional standards and Code of Ethics of the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA), including appropriate documentation, confidentiality, regular clinical supervision and ongoing professional development.

I established Resonance Music Therapy to support, empower and enrich people’s lives through a creative and enjoyable medium. My aim is to help each person work towards their own goals and improve their quality of life through music.

My experience includes early intervention and developmental delay, autistic and neurodivergent children and young people, individuals with physical and intellectual disabilities, adults with neurological conditions and neurorehabilitation needs, and older adults living with dementia and other neurodegenerative conditions. I work with NDIS participants (self-managed and plan-managed), older adults receiving support through My Aged Care, and private clients.

When I’m not working as a music therapist, you’ll usually find me outdoors – hiking, playing soccer, snowboarding or spending time with family and friends.

Whether you are an NDIS participant, receiving support through My Aged Care, or accessing music therapy privately, I will take the time to understand your needs and goals, and create a personalised music therapy plan that feels meaningful and sustainable for you.

If you’d like to learn more, you’re very welcome to get in touch. I look forward to meeting you.
